Anita M. Varunes, Esq., Founder and President, has been certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy for more than 25 years, as well as recognized as a Civil Pre-Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. When she was certified, she was one of only four women in the State of Connecticut having received the certification by the National Board.

Varunes, Estabrook & Associates, P.C., is certified as a women’s business enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council in Washington, D.C., with majority ownership by a woman. She has been certified as a women-owned business owner since 2009 and supports female attorneys in an effort to allow them to excel in a field which continues to be dominated by men. She volunteers regularly to assist woman entrepreneurs to achieve their certifications. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and, formerly, a member of the Hartford County Bar Association, having served as the Chairman of the Bar Outing Committee.

Anita Varunes proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, the charitable organization of her parish, Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Hartford. The Philoptochos Society offers philanthropy through a multitude of programs in Hartford, including House of Bread, Loaves and Fishes, The Villages, and the Greek Orthodox Charities as well as a multitude of programs that make a difference in the lives of people, both in Hartford and throughout the United States. From 2002 to 2006, she has served as a Legal Advisor to the National Philoptochos Association, by appointment of His Eminence, Archbishop Dimitrios of America. She also serves as Legal Advisor for the Saint George Cathedral. Since 2019, she has volunteered teaching Sunday School for the middle school students of the Cathedral, as well as serving as a Greek school substitute teacher.

Attorney Varunes was also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Charter Oak Health Center, a not-for-profit health center and hospital, providing services to Hartford Residents from 2024 until October of 2025. She was elected to the Board of Directors in September of 2024 and served proudly to help the citizens of Hartford obtain state of the art healthcare services.
